About Me
Hi, I’m Abhay Kumar, an accomplished engineer with a proven track record spanning automotive, rail transport and healthcare industries. My journey has been defined by designing complex systems, leading multifunctional teams and delivering high‑quality, safety‑critical solutions. As a lifelong learner and educator, I also enjoy teaching mathematics and physics and mentoring aspiring engineers.
I currently work at Jaguar Land Rover as a Senior Engineer in ADAS Software Development & Requirements, where I lead cross‑functional teams to build software defined vehicles and next‑generation driver assistance features. Prior to this, I gained rich experience in system interoperability at Baxter, digital cockpit and ADAS systems at Harman and passenger announcement & communication systems at Alstom. These roles have honed my ability to bridge customer requirements with engineering execution.
Beyond engineering, I’m passionate about digital marketing, web development, painting and contributing to education platforms. I hold a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar and a Post Graduate Diploma in Information and Cyber Security from Bangalore Institute of Technology – IGNOU.

Senior Engineer – ADAS Software Development & Requirements, Jaguar Land Rover
Leading cross‑functional development for ADAS features (AEB, LKA, ACC, BSM, APA, RPA, ISM, SVMG) and driving the migration to software defined vehicles. Manage requirements lifecycle using DOORS/TRM and guide implementation across QNX/Linux platforms with C++14, state machines and MATLAB. Mentor junior engineers, ensure ISO 26262/ASPICE compliance and spearhead AI‑based tools for innovation validation, white paper generation, plagiarism detection and requirement authoring.

Senior Engineer, Systems Interoperability, Baxter International
Drove wireless connectivity and cybersecurity for medical devices (WPA2/WPA3), defined system requirements and architectures to enable interoperability between infusion pumps, EMRs and gateways. Collaborated with design partners and functional teams to realise requirements, worked with verification teams on test strategies and ensured traceability across specifications, design and verification.

Owned system engineering for digital cockpit and ADAS products, developing functional and non‑functional specifications, analysing risk, managing requirements and change control, and interfacing with customers. Drove reuse of internal requirements, championed problem solving and lessons learnt, and supported business development through technical impact analysis and compliance matrices.

Lead System & Control Engineering Expert, Alstom Transport
Designed and implemented passenger announcement and communication information systems (PACIS) for metro projects worldwide. Analysed customer requirements, created technical purchase specifications, validated systems on site, trained maintenance teams and created technical proposals with architectures, BOQs and interface definitions. Led subsystem integration, change management, network configuration and quality process improvements while mentoring new engineers.
